# What is MagicOS
> How MagicOS works: the canvas, the coordinator, and the threads that do the work.
MagicOS is an infinite design canvas where your ideas, inspiration, designs, and decisions live together. Explore multiple directions, collaborate with AI, and bring your best ideas to life without losing context along the way.
## How MagicOS is organized
* **The canvas**: each MagicOS is one canvas. Everything on it is a file: designs, documents, images, GitHub repos, and text notes. See [The canvas and files](/docs/documentation/magic-os/canvas-and-files).
* **The coordinator**: the chat you talk to. It answers quick questions itself and turns real work into threads.
* **Threads**: each one is an agent doing one piece of work. Threads run at the same time and report back when they finish or need you. See [Agents and threads](/docs/documentation/magic-os/agents-and-threads).
* **The sidebar**: lists every thread by status so you can see what's working, what's done, and what's waiting on you.
